Are You Ready to Begin Your Estate Plan?

The estate plan is a vital set of documents that guides family members through your wishes. However, deciding to create an estate plan can be uncomfortable. When you’re ready, you want to work with an attorney who can guide you through these moments with thoughtfulness and skill.

That’s why I am here. I am attorney John Elliott, and at my firm, Elliott Estate Law, PLLC, I walk clients from across Greater Houston through all their estate planning choices, including:

  • Wills – From simple to estate tax planning wills
  • Revocable trusts
  • Ancillary estate planning documents
    • Powers of attorney, advance medical directives
  • Special needs trusts

As a certified estate planning and probate specialist and certified financial planner, I can provide a unique perspective on your estate, no matter the size of it.

What Makes Up an Estate Plan?

Ultimately, your estate plan should fully represent your wishes for how your beneficiaries should inherit your property. An estate plan includes many guiding documents such as:

  • Wills: Often, these are guiding documents that describe how you wish to disperse your assets after passing away. These can be complicated or succinct.
  • Trusts: These are not wills but are separate legal entities that you will allocate your assets to so that you may avoid probate and excessive taxation.
  • Advance directives: Including power of attorney and health care directives, these are documents that provide guidance in case you are incapacitated.

In our meetings, I will speak with you to discover the extent of your assets and what you wish to do. Some people have a firm idea of what they’re looking to do; others do not. No matter where you are on this path, I will be there to help.

Is Your Estate Plan Current? Contact Me To Make Sure.

If you already have an estate plan, you may not have thought to revisit it in some time. As you age, you experience many changes, and your estate plan should reflect that. Both large and small estates should be frequently updated to reflect your current needs. Even if I did not craft your estate plan, I can review what you have already and provide suggestions to improve it.

I want to ensure that your assets are as protected as possible. Contact me to find out how I can make a difference for you by calling (281) 990-1990 or using this email form.
