My relationship with John Elliott, (from Elliott Estate Law, PLLC) began in the summer of 2018, after I received very disturbing news concerning unlawful financial exploitation of my elderly mother who was living in Texas. Sadly, the exploitation was being perpetrated by a family member who was also living in Texas that had obtained power of attorney for my mother. So began an incredibly long, difficult, and emotionally draining legal battle for my wife and I, that ultimately lasted more than five years to be resolved. My wife and I were extremely fortunate that we had John Elliott, serving as our main lawyer and overseeing and managing our legal affairs. Early in the process, we were able to successfully file a guardianship court action to revoke the Power of Attorney that was in place, in order to end the financial exploitation of my mother. The results of the guardianship action led to a court ordered mediation meeting in which it was agreed that the Power of Attorney would be transferred to myself. Within several months my mother died and our legal efforts were then redirected at recovering funds that had previously been misappropriated and also attempting to equitably settle my mother's estate. During the next several years we went through several additional court ordered mediation sessions in conjunction with legal actions to recover the funds that had been previously misappropriated. Shortly before our court trial date, John initiated a lengthy deposition process, involving multiple parties, which provided us with very credible and convincing evidence in support of our claims of financial exploitation. A few weeks before the trial date we had a final court mandated mediation session where we fortunately achieved a very successful resolution. Throughout this lengthy legal process, I was incredibly impressed by John's legal knowledge, guidance, perseverance and unwavering passion to help my wife and I resolve this very difficult and tragic situation involving my mother. I would highly recommend John and his firm for any similar estate related legal work.
